April 1st ~ The Fool

In tarot, the fool is the first card of the Major Arcana. The fool symbolizes New Beginnings, Taking Risk + Trusting Our Intuition. The fool can also represent a turning point in life.

In tarot, the Major Arcana cards are the path the fool takes, or the “fool’s journey” and I love relating this journey back to everyday life.

I don’t have my deck on me today, but the energy of the fool felt fitting for the first of April.

We are beginning a new chapter and stepping into spring (even though we’ve had false spring 3 times already).

The seasons hesitation reminds me of my own ~ but it’s all apart of the journey

In Tarot, The Fool begins his journey as the symbol of potential, innocence, and boundless possibilities. He steps out into the unknown with a carefree attitude, unaware of the challenges ahead but full of excitement and wonder.

The Fool’s path is one of exploration and discovery. At the start of his journey, he carries only a small bundle, suggesting that he doesn’t have much baggage—he is free from the past, unburdened by experience. His dog, loyal and playful, symbolizes instinct and the connection to the natural world, often offering warnings or encouragements along the way.

As The Fool progresses, each subsequent card in the Tarot deck represents an aspect of his journey: the lessons, challenges, and growth that come with experience. The Fool’s encounters with other characters on the path, like The Magician, The High Priestess, The Empress, and The Emperor, represent stages of personal development and the learning of essential life lessons, such as mastering one’s skills, understanding intuition, and establishing balance between inner and outer worlds.

The Fool’s journey is not linear. There are ups and downs, moments of joy and struggle. Sometimes he will fall, symbolizing moments of failure or misstep, but these fallings are not seen as failures in the Tarot. Rather, they are opportunities to grow, learn, and reset. By the end of his journey, The Fool has gained wisdom, and while he may circle back to the beginning, he does so as someone changed by his experiences—more grounded but still with the same wonder and openness he had when he first stepped out on his adventure.

Ultimately, The Fool’s journey in Tarot is one of self-discovery, embracing the unknown with an open heart, and learning that every step, no matter how small or uncertain, is a valuable part of the whole adventure ~ today, and everyday, I resonate with the fool.

Just as the Fool learns from mistakes, rises after fall, and gains clarity from confusion, we, too, find that our hardships aren’t just obstacles—they’re the very tools that equip us to guide others through their own struggles. In the end, it’s not the destination that matters, but the stories we gather along the way and how we use them to illuminate the path for others.

I am remembering and honoring this everyday.

I hope April brings you all that you need, I love you
